New! Hythe Live – A Cultural Celebration for the Whole Town

A cultural celebration for the whole town, Hythe Live will take place on Holman’s Field and at other venues throughout Hythe from 24th – 26th September 2021. The brand new event focused on live music, literature, stand-up comedy, arts and crafts is centred around Holman’s Field with music events also taking place at The Globe, The Kings Head and The Butt of Sherry throughout the weekend.

Photography, Literature and Art

The main event on Holman’s field is free to enter with some elements held under two large marquees to ensure they can be enjoyed whatever the weather – fortunately the weather forecast is predicting some lovely dry weather this weekend! Over 20 local authors will be showcasing their work with some performing live readings and book signings throughout the weekend. Save Princes Parade Trust is displaying entries to their recent photography competition, whilst a giant graffiti wall shall enable people to paint their favourite memories or best bits of Hythe.

Live Music – The Main Stage and Special Evening Events in the Marquee

There will be free access to the main music stage to get everyone on their feet, including Harripaul returning to Hythe to play their highly acclaimed blues tunes. Special ticket only live music events will take place in a marquee during the Friday and Saturday evenings including Jazz with Katie Bradley and Friends and a Blues Evening with David Ferra and his Allstars. Magician

Theo Mallalieu will be performing on stage this Saturday 25th September 2021 at Hythe Live. Theo is a local magician from Hythe that featured as a part of the magic group 4MG on Britain’s got Talent. 4MG reached the finals of Britain’s Got Talent, finishing in 11th place.

Outstanding stand up comedy

Hythe Live will feature two evenings of outstanding stand up comedy on the Friday and Saturday evening in the second marquee by ticket only between 6pm and 8pm (arrive from 5.30pm). A different line up each night with a total of eight acts across the two evenings. Featuring a different MC and headliner on each evening. Street Food Court, Grocery & Craft Market

Accompanying the live entertainment will be a street food court, seating area and an arts & craft market. Choose from a huge selection of mouth watering street foods including Sri Lankan street food, smoked meats, Thai, Chinese, crepes, Mexican and the ever popular pork or chicken souvlaki. Meanwhile a selection of handmade cakes, cheeses, relish, fudge and more will be available to take home together with a vast number of unusual arts and crafts available from the market.

Brocks Autumn Beer Festival

Brock’s bar will be hosting an Autumn Beer Festival within Holman’s Field featuring local craft ales from Hop Fuzz Brewery and a range of green hops beers from Kent based Musket Brewery.

Children’s Entertainment and Fancy Dress Competition

As with all Zoom Events, Hythe Live is a family friendly affair with children’s rides and a fancy dress competition for the under 16s on the Sunday. The theme of the fancy dress competition is animals from children’s literature so please come dressed as your favourite animal character. The competition is open to all children aged 16 years and below with judging taking place at 1.30pm on Sunday 26th September beside the main stage. A special prize will be awarded to the winner!
