12-14 Jul

Folkestone Food & Drink Festival 2024

The countdown is on as Zoom prepares to launch a new food and drink focused event in Radnor Park Gardens promising a fridge full of tasty treats for the summer solstice weekend.

There will be food and drink in abundance featuring a provisions market together with  pop up street foods and bars of distinction set beside the 'big table' an alfresco dining area for to share your choice of meals. In addition, there will be entertainment for the whole family with food focused competitions, children's theatre, fairground rides, workshops, cooking demos and comedy.

And the icing on the cake, a special live music offer with some of the best acts that Kent has to offer, so pack your cutlery + dancing shoes for the longest days of summer celebration in Radnor Park this June.

Visitor Info

The area around Folkestone shows evidence of human habitation dating back over 12,000 years.

The name ‘Folcanstan’ the town, first appears in the 7th century, possibly originating as a combination of the word for its use as the meeting place ‘stone’ by someone called ‘Folca’.

Nearer the present day – Radnor Park was donated to Folkestone for use as a recreation ground by the 5th Earl of Radnor William Pleydell-Bouverie  in 1886 (who also leased the land for the Leas Lift, created the ZigZag Path and Kingsnorth Gardens).

The Leas, designed in the mid 1800’s by Decimus Burton (Landscaper and Architect of many of the Royal Parks and Kew Gardens) has been a famous promenade since Victorian times, with panoramic views of the channel and various paths down to the lower leas park and beach. The Leas Cliff hall was originally designed as a shelter and small venue – but was expanded in the late 1920’s to accommodate over 1000 guests – subsequent years have seen it  further modernised.
