Situated on the Isle of Thanet, Weststgate on Sea is a relatively young town. Growing from a collection of small residential buildings and a farm, it established itself as a holiday resort in the 1800’s. Further growth and settlement with two churches, schools and a train station took place later in the century, with the addition of a rather unusually styled town hall in 1909.
Places of interest include its fantastic blue flag West Bay & St Mildred’s Bay Beaches (the whole of the north east Kent coast has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest), Westgate and Birchington Golf Club and the Carlton Cinema (which was originally the town hall) and its quaint shops.
